Yawatano(Hydrangea's home)

Wild H.macrophylla never planted in the garden though a lot of it grew naturally near Yawatano. I saw the cactus and the canna amaryllis and the bonsai, etc. in the garden when I was small, but I saw Hydrangea only in the coast and the river.
The hydrangea came to be seen here and there recently. However, it seems to have bought the pot in the flower shop.
I want to be shown H.macrophylla of Jogasaki-coast naturally when walking in Yawatano in the future.

Yawatano(Yawatano/Jogasaki-coast/Izu-kogen)

Yawatano is in the southern village of Shizuoka Prefecture Ito City. Here is a scenic area that continues from the foot in the Mt. Amagi to the coastline. The coast is called Jogasaki-kaigan. There are a lot of beach plants, and an orange and a yellow flowers are the four seasons sometimes in blossom there.
The mountain side is a resort that is called Izu-kogen. There are a lot of museums, ateliers, and galleries besides the villa and accommodations.
Old village are called Yawatano, and the coastline are called Jogasaki kaigan and the land for sale in postwar days are called Izu-kogen in Yawatano. Izu-kogen and Jogasaki are more famous than the name of Yawatano now. Because Yawatano is a name of the village that continues for 1000 years or more, it is necessary to value it.

Moreover, there is a possibility that "Amagiamacha" grows naturally near Amagi.

Feature of Hydrangea.macrophylla in Jogasaki-coast

The feature of H.macrophylla of Jogasaki is that the color of the flower is thick and vivid. Moreover, it has a variegated change.

Aerophotograph of coast where 'Jogasaki' and 'Izu-no-hana' grows

Jogasaki and Izu-no-hana grew naturally in a right photograph.

Izu-no-hana is by the root of a low evergreen on the cliff.
It was shorter than Jogasaki because that place was hard for the growth environment, and thick leaf.
The plant grows up verry well in the same size as 30 years ago.

Jogasaki was a high plant of 2 meters or more in the valley (dark line) that a little upper right from a center of the photograph. There was a big pine tree near there at the discovery this time and big evergreens did not grow up below. It darkens because the big pine dies, nearby evergreen-trees grows, and surroundings were covered now, and Jogasaki has withered with another hydrangeas, too.

Yawatano is a hydrangea's home in the world.

The West hydrangea grown all over the world is the one that the hydrangea grown in Japan extends to Europe, and it was promoted as a hybridization parents.
There is Hon-ajisai in the kind grown in Japan from old time. It looks like the hydrangea in the east coast of Izu peninsula in the color. And, a hydrangea that is the nearest Hon-ajisai is Yamato-ajisai discovered in the Yawatano.

Protection of Hydrangea

The natural growth ground of H.macrophylla of Jogasaki-coast is done to the product in a national park. Here is importantly protected excluding the harm of the pine regret insect and rock-climbing. The great difficulty is to become sunshiny shortage for the hydrangea by surrounding of the dying pine being covered with the evergreen. The hydrangea disappeared from the valley in several places in ten years.
